wiring a new stereo
I'm planning on calling the dealership, but I thought I'd ask here first. I've got a new car stereo and I'd like to put it in myself. The stock radio has different color wires and I don't know where they all go. Is there a wire map available or does anyone know? Thanks.

Hi,
What year is your Pathfinder? Did it have a Bose stereo? It you had a Bose than installing a new head unit if tough, but not impossible. If you had a standard regular radio it should be pretty easy. I would call a local radio shop, Best Buy or Circuit City. They will have a wire harness you can buy that will match up with the Pathys connectors. No cutting, no electrical tape.

Well, I'll have to live and learn on this one. As soon as I saw all those different colored wires I cut the connector off. I know, dumb move. So now I'll have to use tape n stuff. FYI, my pathy is a '93 and the stereo was OEM. Thanks for your help. I really appreciate it even though it is too late. Thanks again, ÆNIMA |

See if you can reconnect the original harness. Use a soldering iron and shrink tubing to put it back together. If you cut the old harness off too short call a local junkyard and get one from there.
You REALLY dont want to have to twist and tape all those wires together. There are several 'hot' wires in the harness that could come loose and pop fuses or fry your radio. Best of luck! |

well I have a 93 pathfinder and got the wire harness for it "all the power wires matched up but could not get any sound"
so I just rewired the speakers to the new headunit...btw the stock headunit was made by clarion and (found out when I was running the new speaker wire) it has an inline x-over/amp>>>>(location is pasanger rear under the lower interior pannel) hope this info helps u describe it to the sterio shop..:sun:

Re: wiring a new stereo
Hi
I just went through the same problem with my 93 pathfinder and I'm still working on it. Thank you this has helped me. I think this is where the blue/white amp wire gets hooked up too. |
