In-Progress: 1951 Chevy Bel Air

Since the '29 Rat-Rod is almost done, I started this AMT '51 Chevy today! I scratchbuilt the lowered chassis(lack of chassis). I think I will lower the front-end just a tad more! The rear part is perfect! The wheels in the last two pictures are the ones I will be using! This will be a simple and fast project!

Feedback and Comments welcome!! Ol' Dude

ooooh love the 51-53 chevy, and I agree, lower the front a bit more and it'll be great. Can't wait to see the finish!

Re: In-Progress: 1951 Chevy Bel Air

I`m with Zoom on the stance in the last two pics. I like both the Cragars and the period correct steelies.
What color are you going to use?

Re: In-Progress: 1951 Chevy Bel Air

I'm sure it will be something dark! I seen a 1/1 '49 Ford that was two-tone, so maybe I will go with something like that!! Thanks for the feedback and comments!!

Nie man, Bel airs are sexy. Even with steelies, how is the AMT kit? I've seen it and thought of it plenty of times but knowing AMT...

Since I have seen your former builds, I´m expecting alot
from this I have such a similar taste about cars with
you. Actually I´m building ´51 Fleetline with the exact
same rim/tire setup as we speak..

Got some color on this bad boy last night, Tamiya gold for the roof and Tamiya matte black for the body and interior. I will add bare-metal foil on all the trim. So don't ask why the color seperation is crazy! I will start the interior tonight, maybe a black/white combo w/ zebra skin!!!! The steelies I think are going to be painted.......................?

Looks great

I'd first try paint matching the steelies w/the same gold as the roof. If that's not wild enough, you might try a yellowish orange, a bright blue, bright lime green. Or cream color if you're not looking for so much color. Sometimes you just have to have the colors on the car and the whitewalls in place to make a final wheel color decision. Try one color on one side, another on the other and you'll get something cool.
