clearcoat?

would it be bad if clearcoat was applied over headlights and taillights????

Only if you use a clear coat that is going to yellow over time.

I`ll second freakray.
Also, if spraying in high humidity, you can "cloud" clear parts. Agressive automotive laquers can etch some plastics so you may want to test on sprue first.
