Talking Amish wheels

Hey,

Because of the way I wear my beard, amish style, I get alot of comments about it. lol. Notthing bothers me tho. It's all cool. Anyway, it got me to thinking. I want to make an amish horse and buggy.

My main question is, are there any horses in 1:24-1:25 scale? And what can I use for the big wooden wheels. I know I'm going to have to scratchbuild most of the buggy.

Thanks,
Frank X.

If you were truely going crazy you would fail to recognize the symptoms. As it stands however, given that you know thats where your heading, your not quite there yet. It could be close though..

Now you got me starting to think if I'm crazy for actually helping you out on this. Something like this might be a good starting point: http://www.hlj.com/product/ITA6437

Re: Amish wheels

1/35 scale would probably save you a lot of headaches. But as a true modeler, you must build it in 1/24/25 scale!
Their used to be a company thatproduced a wooden kit of a covered wagon. The wheels would work perfect from that. Check any well stocked hobby shop, or ask the manager if it is something he can order.

And if you're a true AF modeler you'll slam the suspension on that buggy, load the back with ice, and forget the wagon wheels, use Aoshima's Amis(h)tads instead!

(sorry, a wee bit too much coffee this morning!)

Re: Amish wheels

Look for G scale train equipment. G scale is technically 1:22 but your horse might just be particularly well fed. There should be plenty of stuff that you can use there, since most G scale train equipment is steam era, and horse and buggy type stuff is pretty popular for garden railways.

Walthers is a big train distributor, Preiser is a figure making company, and they will be good places to start.

That's really scarry!

Were there wagon wheels in one of the BTTF Delorian's?
Tamiya made a 'german field kitchen' in 1/35th scale...
Different is good and scratchbuilding is liberating.
