Completed - Fiat 131 Esci Sponsor

This is the Fiat 131 by Esci of the Fiat 131 sponsored by Esci! Found this on eBay reasonably and although the decals looked mint they broke apart when I tried to put them on. I lost a few decals in the process on the roof and a couple of the side panel ones are a touch ropey but after using some decal saver most were saved succesfully.

I have to say that working with an old kit like this is a far cry from the Tamiya models I always build. This is in fact only the 2nd time I can recall where I have completed a non Tamiya kit. Fit for the most part was ok, but I can not get the hood to sit completely flush at all. It's a good kit in general though, looking at my other Esci models in my build pile it looks like the others will be a lot worse.

I am not really happy with the way this one turned out, I rushed it here or there (front lights for example ) and should have spent much more time on the details. I got frustrated with it and should have put it aside but I didn't I found it was missing a couple engine bay pieces so it is a bit spartan, but I did add some basic wiring and I added seatbelts inside but otherwise it is box stock. I am happy to have it in my collection as it is an unusual subject, but I sincerely hope my next model is better...

All comments welcome....

AJ

Re-released this livery, I highly doubt that? I have seen the Alitalia version but that is all. The older ESCI kits like this one used Cartograf for their decals even back in the late seventies and eighties.

That is one tough looking Fart....sorry Fiat.
Sorry to hear about the decals. But it still turned out to be a great looking model.
Cheers, WIDE.
