Dodge Neon wheels and tires

Hello. I had a question about wheels and tires for a 97 Dodge Neon 4 door sedan. I was assured from many people that 17" wheels would fit on the car with no problems. I purchases a set of 17" wheels for it, and would like to know what tire size you would recommend I use. Would any specific tire sizes fit better on my car than others. I was thinking about a 205/40/17? Would these fit? Would a wider tire fit?
