Help on oil and blinking light

Hi everyone,

This is my first time posting here. I was wondering if anyone can help me. What would be the best oil I should use on my car. And should it be regular or syntetic. Also, my maintenance req's lights blink eight times whenever I start my car. What does that mean.

My car is Honda Accord-vtech 2001. Thanks

natural or synthetic oil will serve you just fine. Though I think synthetic is better, your pocketbook may ultimately decide.

-If you use natural oil, be sure to change at 3000 miles or less, filter AND oil

-if synthetic, try to do the same

either way, be concious of your driving habits and change your oil appropriately.

as far as "better" goes... either is fine unless there are special considerations, like racing or a SC/TC, then synthetic becomes more significant as far as longevity and overall protection (based on brand)

You can use either one. If you can afford synthetic oil go for it, it will give more protection.

About maintenance required light (MRL), its there to remind you that you getting close to next maintenance interval (its every 15,000ml).
When your mileage gets closer to 15,000ml interval it will blink longer and longer, once it reaches 15,000ml interval it will stay ON all time. There nothing wrong with your car you can drive your car without any problems, but its very annoying to have that light ON, so you can reset it.
Your owner manual describes how to reset MRL, but if you lost it here how you do it:
Put your key into ignition;
Push and hold trip reset button, button on right from odometer;
turn ignition ON, but DON'T START ENGINE;
Hold reset button for 10sec or until MRL go out.

now you good to go for another 15,000ml.

Thanks guys for replying.

One more question, what weight should I use. They recommend 5-30. They said to get this if the car is 2000+ accord. If I put anything else, it will ruin my fuel management or something to that same line. Is it true ? Thanks
