Dual Exhaust?

I was wondering if anyone had some insight to applying a dual exhaust system to a 2000 Civic SI. You see, I have a full Black Widow kit I'll be putting on my ride in about two months...the rear bumper has two cutouts for two exhaust pipes. Now, I've heard I won't get better performance for having duals, actually it will weigh it down some, but anyone here done this before?

I had a 99 Civic EX with a Greddy Evo, and I loved that exhaust, but if I use custom piping for duals, I have no idea what type of mufflers to get.

Any help?

Thanks

A dual exhaust setup will severly hurt performance on your car. Just leave it as a single setup. Or throw on a fake muffler on one side just for show, but I think that looks silly, so I would just leave the other cutout alone. Look here for more info : http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/t13199.html

That would look nice, but the weight is the least of your worries. Dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder engine not a good idea. You will lose power.

Yep. I meant power in the all inclusive sense (HP & torque).

just make sure you design it correctly and it will function as any other exhaust would....I think it looks silly but it will work if done correctly

Thanks for all the feedback. Much appreciated. I was going for a certain look, as you can see in this example: Yellow Civic

But if there's such a degragation in performance, perhaps it's not worth it.

Thanks again!

Like someone said, just put a muffler on the other side ~ and not hook it up to anything. Would give you the look of a dual system without the negative power loss...

I don't think it looks bad but everyone here speaks the truth. You'll spend a bunch of extra money buying a dual exhaust system, you'll add unneccessary weight, and you will lost back pressure which is needed on smaller engines

If it's a V6 Stratus, I don't find it a problem at all

You could always use the "fake" dual exhaust design on Cavalier Z24's and Sunfire GT's
