Mini-Me or ZC???
hey guys, i'm new to the board, so hey!! but my question is about the mini-me and ZC swap. which do you think would be better?? i would have to get some low-compression pistons for the mini-me b/c i want to turbo/nitrous in the future. anyone know how reliable that setup is?? what about the ZC? i heard those engines are easy to burn up if heavily modded. which do you think would be better?? thanx for your help

Any motor is easy to burn up if heavily modified. Just like any highly modified motor, preparation and tuning are key. Out of your choices I would choose the zc because I am not a big fan of the mini-me. There are a lot of things that can go wrong with that swap. From what I have seen and heard, it is more trouble than it is worth. You might also want to look at the d16z6 swap from the 92-95 ex/si civic. It has similar numbers to the zc and is a good motor to mod.

Yea i would go with the ZC. it's a good motor to mod. I have it in my CRX now and i think it's a pretty good motor. The ZC would probably be my selection.

Out of the 2: ZC all the way.
Better option = B18 w/turbo

I would go with the ZC also. I just like DOHC engines better than SOHC. I am not putting down the SOHC engines I just like the DOHCs better. Plus Look at Vince's old setup. ZC Turbo!! That is my goal. But that's WAAYYY down the line.
Setanta - Better option = B18 w/turbo Yeah I agree. But that's gonna cost an arm and a leg.

If you decide to go with the ZC you would have a better chance at beating Ashley huh?
You need to get her back for that.

ya, i think i will go w/ the longblock SOHC VTEC instead of the head swap. they put out about the same power and there is much larger aftermarket for the D16 than the ZC. thanx for the help

Heheh - gotta be careful. Over here our second generation ZCs (Integra and '90-91 CRXs) were actually called a D16(A)
Same engine, same 130bhp that the ZC put out in the earlier cars, just a different name. Weird.
