guestion about 420a internals and mods

Just bought a 1996 gs for $1000 with 100,000k on it in good cond.. My question is are the 420a internals strong enough to withstand mods like nitrous (100 shot) or a turbo up grade? And how much HP could I get out of allmotor. I figure for the money I spent on the car I can spend the remaining $5000 that was left over from my savings on mods. Already tricked out the interior and the paint but, auto painting is my job so no cost there.

Turbo - yes read the sticky on top.
I would not go with 100 shot, you could go with a 75 shot with fuel upgrades. EclipseRST did the 75 shot with fuel upgrades.
Personally I would not go over 50, but thats just me.

well for 5000 bucks you could pretty much have a turbo 420a(same setup as jake does) i dunno if you want to put all that money just into the engine but it might be work it if your willing to. hit jake up on all the rest of the details from there. i'm in the process of making my 98 gs turbo but its coming along slowly due to lack of funding. but what ever you do with the 5grand you got to put into the car have fun with it

Re: guestion about 420a internals and mods

I went to the dsm tuner site and learned alot about the 420a. It seems like I will get the best hp if I go ahead with a turbo set up. I am still going to build up the engine as much as I can though. With strengthened internals and a turbo, what are your ideas of adding NOS on top of all the mods? To much?

I think Jake (eclipserst) would have the best idea of that. He has done all of that, and is running nitrous.
But if you do run nitrous, PLEASE use a wet system.

Re: guestion about 420a internals and mods

O.K. I am sure this is on this forum as well so if you just want to throw me a link that would be great. What about the stock ecu? With alot of mods I'm sure the stock ecu is inadequate. What would be a good e managment system to get? Should it be a stand alone or mod the existing one?

Re: guestion about 420a internals and mods

ok, here is my experience, we have built a 420a engine, as we speak, right now it has had head work, cams, ported, polish, crank pulley, venom intake, fuel rail, fuel pump, and we have a zex nitrous fogger kit on it. it is spraying a 125 shot of nitrous and a 75 shot of fuel and the car is doing great, it dipped into the 14s in the 1/4... the 420a engine has forged pistons so as long as you have the adequate fuel going to motor you can spray way more then 50 or 75
