Question about stock internals
I'd like to know what you guys mean when you say "stock internals".
I am new to the mod process and have finally started. One step at a time. Just got myself an H&K FIPK and the stock BOV is chirpin now I am fixing to get a 3" Upper I.C. pipe and a 3" Down pipe, both (stainless). A Manual Boost Controller and an HKS SSQV BoV. Then I will proceed with the HKS 3" stainless High performance exhaust and a test pipe. Doing my 60k service first though. I searched the 1000 FAQ section ad could not find anything referencing the term "stock internals". Is that like camshafts and such?If you guys wouldn't mind letting me know what they are I would appreciate it. I keep seeing replies to posts about guys pushing the limits of the stock internals and I wanna make sure that I am not doing so. Any help would be appreciated. Internals means inside the bottom end: pistons and rods are the first things to get upgraded. ARP hardware on the head and cams are usually ignored when referred to "built". You don't need 3'' intercooler pipe. Even on a front mount, I will have 2.5''. My UICP on my near stock 97 was 2.25'' for the record, as a lot of them are. Don't bother with stainless UICP either, most brands won't be. Exhaust is exhaust; HKS is the most expensive brand you can buy... and it's not necessary. I bought my 3'' apexi turboback for $200 used. Make sure you have a boost gauge and try not to stray from the usual performance path because it's there for a reason.

K&N actually, but you got it right at the end of the post....think its funny because you are a deputy sherrif (sp?) For anyone who doesn't know, H&K stands for Heckler and Koch, who make some DAMN fine firearms, mp5, g36 UMP etc etc...lol I don't think I have ever even seen 3" intercooler piping, 2.5 will do nicely 200 is a damn good price for apexi turboback HKS is good exhaust, just expensive, for a budget get it custom made at a exhaust shop for $300-400
