Question Electrical Prob.

Hi there!
I'm new to this forum first of all my rides:
1972 Dodge Demon 340 SixPack
2003 RSX Type S
I'm having an electrical problem with my Demon:
When I try to start the engine I have no electricity in the sparks. So I turn the switch on and check a lot off stuff and I found that when the switch is in On there is electricity in positive (+) of the coil but for some reason when I try to start the engine this electricity is lower almost gone. So I need to use a jumper between the positve from the battery to start the engine.
I alredy change the Ignition Switch.
Sorry for my english but I hope that everybody understand the problem.
Any help will be appreciate.

Re: Electrical Prob.

Sounds like you have high resistance somewhere in the circuit. I would check voltage drops along the whole circuit and in order to find the bad point.

Re: Electrical Prob.

also, if you have a voltage meter handy use that to test how many volts are going through the coils. test it when you try and start it and when you jump it. i find voltage meters handy when i have electrical problems when wiring my audio system or my neons to switches.

Re: Electrical Prob.

Also check to see if you have an "R" terminal on your starter solonoid. If you do, check to make sure it's actually connected. Also check the ballast resistor. Usually if they are bad, it will let the motor run with the key on start, and then stall when the key is released, but it could also cause a voltage drop like you're seeing. Good Luck
