I have a 95 Aurora and since I gave my friend a jumpstart 2 days ago. Since then the electrical system has been weird. The guages all go to zero periodically while driving. A couple of times my car downshifted into 2nd gear while i was driving, so i stopped, shut the car off, restarted it and it was fine. But it happened a few more times and now it will not shift above second(P,R,N work fine). It seems to me that this is all related to the jumpstarting some how. Any ideas??

As for the general electrical troubles, about all I can say is doh! I'll rembember NOT to be a nice guy in my car.
The shifting problem sounds danm close to the trouble I had with my 95. The only thing is it just went out with no warning on my wife- 400 miles from home of course. There is a plastic filter retainer clip in between the 3rd and 4th gear shift solenoids that can break once that filter plugs up some. When it goes the solenoids break at the base. 96's and later are supposed to have a metal clip there. They didn't charge me much to diagnose this a a transmission shop- I think a 1/2 hour of labor. If your troubles are coincidental instead of related it'll get you back operational for the most part fairly cheaply. Cheaper than a rebuilt tranny for sure... Sorry I couldn't be of more help with what you really wanted. Good luck. |

Re: 95 Aurora Electrical Probs
The Coleman Powermate or similar portable jump start battery pack is a much more stable power source without spiking. One of the best new automotive products for under $50.
