Lightbulb I want to upgrade my stock GST

HI, I just got a 95 GST w/ 81k a few months ago....I really love my car, but I don't want to be all stock. I am getting some money in a couple of weeks-mid april- ($2500). I don't want to be one of those stupid kids that spend money in useless stuff. I would really appreciate any advice on what to buy. For instead. get a double turbo or one big one....or something like that (I love the sound of the turbo makes).....I want to spend first on the performance, rather than in the looks (although my girl will brake up w/...... ) I hate when a car looks great, but doesn't do much.

Go to www.cheapturbo.com, look at the Garrett turbos or the T-series if you got the $$$ and want big results.
-Upgrade the blow off valve- 1st generation eclipse
-Get a bigger front mount intercooler- Spearcos are nice
-Maybe an exhaust, I personally like the stock ones. But thats your call.
Hope that helps a little bit.

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

But watch out, dont get too much power...unless you just want to buy new tires every week. My only regrets about the Talon TSi 2wd.

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

Those pages really help a lot....thanks......I got another question.... I've noticed that when I go at 50 mph + and push my brakes the whole car starts to shake.....and I also noticed that the front wheels are worn out. Should I rotate and balance my tires or just get two new tires for the front and have them balance???

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

The shaking is probably from warped rotors, either get them turned or buy new ones. For your tires i would buy new ones, you dont want to take the risk driving on baled tires.

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

either your alignment is out or you have a brake problem. Probably rotors like soyee said. I would replace your tires, all 4. it's spring and you don't wanna get stuck in the rain with shitty tires once that turbo spools (I found this out the hard way... but damn was it fun) Get some diecent ones. Kumho's are good an cheap. about 360 for a set of 4 17's. and less if you have the stock rims. Have your mechanic check out your brakes or do it yourself if you know how. Good luck

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

Im gonna try first to rotate the tires.....(since they are not that bad)......and balance them (i need to do that anyways)....thanks though......I heard that when you get or upgrade a turbo , and after you install the intercooler your A/C will be gone...?...is it true???.....what happens if you tune your stock turbo?....i heard that they put a chip or something like that to boost it.....and finally...does anyone know any cheap-homemade mod's that are not high tech and can be done in an afternoon?.....I really apreciate any suggestion...thanks

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

1. A/C and intercooler are un-related.
2. Tuning your stock turbo makes a stock car more in-tune (what did you expect?)
3. There's a factory device to control boost to stock levels, yes, and..?
4. http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guid...tage1power.php

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

Exhaust (2.5-3 inch NO CAT)
Intake (make sure you can reciculate the BOV)
BOV (greddy)
Boost Controller (Manual works fine)
Boost Gauge (auto meter is a good brand)

If you still have money you can opt for a larger turbo and then work on fuel managment...

Big t28 Killer or a Big 16G turbo are great starters

You will then need a walbro 255 fuel pump, possibly larger injectors, apexi AFC, and prbly a pocket logger. A larger Greddy or Apexi FMIC coudlnt hurt either.

Re: I want to upgrade my stock GST

My thoughts are...
1. K&N air filter or equal
2. More high flow exhaust. At least muffler.
3. 1st Gen BOV
4. Turbo upgrade...check out ebay..some good ones show up for pretty good price for new.
5. As for tires...I just put on 4 called FUZION.. sold at tires plus and elsewhere. Great tires and awesome grip!!! good price too!!
6. Strut brace makes all the difference... especially on the convert's!
7. Oh yeah... bigger intercooler with new turbo...
8. Send your ECM in for performance chip... mine gave me from 20-28HP gain.
That would be a pretty good start...

1. Free Mods
2. 1g bov and a boost gauge
3. Injen or K&N FIPK
4. 3in Exhaust+Downpipe
5. Put $500 away cause somethings gonna break at the most inoppurtune time... That way you wont be moping around the house cause youve spent all your money on go fast parts and dont have money to fix it..
6. Save up more money for a clutch to hold your new found power...

That should keep you busy for a while... And im not kidding about number 5... Cause my friend is currently learning that lesson the hard way... Spent all his money on parts... Transmission went out 5 weeks ago.. Hes drivin the beater to work cause he doesnt have the money to get a new tranny installed.. causing his girlfriend to lose her job cause she was drivin the beat to work and now has no way to get there...
