Recall on Silverado Tail Gates

I heard recently that GM was recalling several years of Silverados because they have defective tail gates hinges/latches/hardware whatever. Has anyone heard this and do you have any info?

The cables that holds the tail gate gets corroded, they replace both. Mine broke two months ago.

The recall is on the 2000-2004 models due to corrosion of the tailgate cables. I am on the phone now with Chevy customer service to try and get mine replaced on my 1999 model. My left side cable is corroded and broken. He is claiming that it could be a differant style cable when everything I have read is showing me that it is the same. I told them they needed to repair/replace it or we will go round and round when the tail gate wraps around the bumper. We'll see.
