Intakes

Ok lets face it, there is not much of an aftermarket for the Metro. To my knowledge, K&N does not make a filter element that fits our cars. And that pretty much leaves everything to the imagination. So, I want to share what I have done with my geo, and hopefully others will post more ideas and we can get some good discussion going here.

I took a trip to home depot, searched the entire store for something worthy of composing a Geo intake system. My final decision was to cut out half of the plastic cowl piece on the bottom of the front bumper and install a 10" rectangular scoop piece. I dont have a digi cam goin yet, but ill get pics eventually... Anyway, this 10" piece reduces to fit a 4inch diameter piece of dryer tubing. The tubing is around $10 or $15, but it stretches out to be something like 8 feet long, which is way more than is needed so you will have extra. Running the tubing from the back of the scoop, in front of the engine (to the passenger side of the exh. manifold) and curving back to fit the stock round filter housing. In order to make the 4" tubing fit onto the filter housing, your gonna need some tape, I used clear wrapping tape but im sure duct tape would work just as well. For a real charge, remove the filter element too, just be careful not to suck up any leaves or anything.

Wait, is'nt that longer than the car itself???

Find a motorcycle airfilter and see if it'll fit, or a lawnmower filter.

K&N has part numbers listed for all Metros (89-98), regardless of engine the part number is E-9209. Hope that helps.
