Hey guys....started reading some of the threads here and was compelled to register and join the community.
I just recently started to get the "Bug"--all I can think about is modding my car! I've been doing some research and figured that the best place to start is with the intake...just wondering if any of you fellas would be kind enough to offer a newbie some advice on whether the cheaper JWT POP charger is any different than the Stillen (5th Gen Max). Also, does anyone know anything about the Phillips BlueVision line of bulbs? I have read some good stuff about them (and some surprising stuff about the PIAA's). Would appreciate any advice...this is my first foray into modding. Thanks to anyone who took the time to read...[]DeAcE

Can't help on the bulbs but I recommend the Stillen however I do not think it's worth the extra money, but it is a better piece. If you want to do the JWT than just follow my mod and save some money.

Stillen=More expensive, Genuine K&N Filter, CARB certified.
JWT=cheaper, generic filter (last I checked), not CARB certified. In other words, if you are not worried about, or are going to remove the cone filter for inspections and smog checks, go with the JWT to save a bit of money. There will be no HP difference, so pick your poison! Lots of people like the Phillips BV bulbs. I haven't tried them personally, so that's about all the info I can pass on there. Good luck, and keep that mod bug alive!

Re: cleared amber out of tail lights..

Look in Maximadriver.com under 'How2'- 'How to clear tailights' You have to take the taillights apart and replace the orange piece with a clear piece, usually cut from a floresent light panel. It is not that difficult, you just need to TAKE YOUR TIME. The glue holding them together is very tough to get apart, and most people (myself included) end up cracking part of there lights. You can also buy this mod for around $180 from people who do it, which is just above the cost for new tailights. I think Sprintmax is selling them right now on www.maxima.org There are a few others also, just look around. Good luck

Is there any reason why we shouldn't purchase the JWT intake over the Stillen?
I live in NJ so I don't think SMOG inspection is an issue. Is there some other reason? Also, anybody have the contact information for the TX Nissan dealer doing the front strut tower bars? I'm looking for the most bang for the buck. It seems like the Stillen products are good but high-priced. If I can obtain the same results at a lower cost, I'd love to do that. |

Re: Re: Negatives on JWT intake?
Ordered the JWT POP and the FSTB from Courtesy Nissan. They have both and the POP is the lowest cost I've seen at any of the other sites.
I hope they come with instructions. Quote:

Re: Stillen Intake/JWT Intake
Just wanted to correct some information, the JWT is CARB approved, and I would not use the term Generic to define the filter, it is JWT's very own and it does kick butt.
http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/august03/jwt_pop/ My son has the Stillen and it is very nice, sounds awesome, but I think the JWT is just as good or better. Just my two cents. Don Strawsburg Quote:

Re: Stillen Intake/JWT Intake
I made my own Intake. A piece of 3 inch exhaust pipe and a bigass K&N. Sounds awesome and works just the same. Also, look into Frankencar intakes. www.frankencar.com

How long do you guys think it would take to install a Stillen intake? Also, would it be stupid to take the intake to a body shop to get it installed?

I don't know about the stillen intake specifically, but all are pretty much the same when it comes to installation (as long as it's not a cold air intake, then that's a bit more work). They're all easy do it yourself jobs, should take less than an hour. Even if you don't know much about cars, it's still pretty easy and it's a great learning experience. Taking it to a shop would be a waste.

I just got my Stillen intake installed, and I love it. I have only driven my car around for around 5 minutes...so I don't know if I feel any increase in performance, but I really love the sound. It just sounds sick. Was it worth the price? Of course it was.

Re: Stillen Intake/JWT Intake
I have a Stillen intake and I have taken it off several times due to the fact that I think that the stock intake has more torque. I recently put it back on for a trip to Vegas to see if I was right. Three people in the car w/luggage and the car was a dog. The filter is great at higher rpm's without a load, however, pack it up and you will see that it takes a long time for the car to rev out. I am going back to my original setup: Stock with the resonator box removed and a 3" heater hose connected to it leading to the bottom of the car. This setup kicked a**. When I get the time I will go with the Injen and attach the Stillen filter to the end of it.
