I changed the fluid and filter and the fluid level is right on the mark but when it is cold it will slip a little going into 3rd gear. Is there a modulator going bad ? I thought the erratic shifting could be the reason I get only 30 mpg but have since learned this is about normal. Anyone got any suggestions / advise ? Thanks ... Howard

I have a 2002 Elantra with 45,000 on it doing the same thing. Took it to dealer, since I had the trans fluid changed there at 30,000. They told me they "topped it off" and it should be fine. Yesterday took it on a trip and did the same thing at highway speeds for about a half hour, then the problem stopped. I"ll probably take it back when I can afford to be without it, but not sure when. If you find out anything, let me know, ok?
