I havent a clue which JL sub is better, Im not real familiar with Jl Audio. Anyways to get the most bass, find the RMS load for the subs(how much constant wattage they can take) and get close to that for your amps RMS. I would run mono amps because if the RMS load is higher on the subs youll need a big amp to get close to that wattage. Also find out whether the subs are designed for a ported, bandpass, or sealed box. If its a sealed box and your tight on space you can stuff the box with polyfill(that stuff in the sewing section that they put in pillows) and make the sub act as if the box is bigger. One more thing they say smaller boxes give "tighter" bass and bigger boxes give bass with more "thump". I prefer tighter bass, the kind that makes the hair on you arm dance whenever it hits. Just my thoughts.

Hope that makes sense.

EDIT: If you used a multi-channel amp you could wire your subs in 2 ohm and get more power, but Im not a big fan of doing that. Thats just me though

w6 is better...
The w4 has been discontinued for YEARS now, I can't believe you found one... lol

The w4 was a poor design, but the w6 is one of the best small-enclosure sound quality subs I've ever heard.
I've owned a few of those in my day.

Actually, I'm running the w6 version 2's right now in my 'Lude
