Traded in the Z28 for a lancer Evolution

Well I traded in the Z28. they paid off the $5K I owed on the car, and gave me $7K as the down payment for the new vehicle purchase. The Evolution I purchased is a 2003 with 6K miles on it. I bought it for $26.9K Basically I put $2K down on top of it. I still have to pay $430 a month though the car has alot of getup, much more so then I expected (It actually seems quicker then the Z28). i don't think i'm gonna modify this car, other then maybe a K&N filter, as I need to keep the car under warranty. It's blue color wise, and has the most ridiculous looking spolier i ever saw on a car (Supra included). Hopefully it proves to be a reliable car.

nice choice...very nice choice. i love the evo and if i had the money i'd buy a white RS, put in a new ecu, exhaust, cam gears, and an intake and i'd be set. that car has beautiful handling that u should exploit and it has a good bit of acceleration. again, great choice and happy motoring

i always wondered why do you v8 guys always look down on that wing. i hope you guys know that the wing on the evo is actually functional. and when your taking turns at over 130mph that are sharp you can actually feel the rear end stay planted. sheeesh why can't you guys figure out that you need downforce when your cornering at high speeds. and yes i know it does work becusae my friend has a evo 8 and a STi and it works. since you got the car, i hope you no longer look down on the wing becusae you will feel it working. please do not confuse the rear wing the ones found on most civics that only cause drag. if you do get a chance to drive an evo without hte wing. you will feel a different in the rear grip.

Re: Traded in the Z28 for a lancer Evolution

Well i understand your point TatII, but I don't plan on hitting corners at 130+ mph anytime in the near future. I dunno what the insurance is gonna be like. i'd imagine it can't be much worse then the Z28, since the Z28 has the highest fatality rate among any car on the road from what i read in an article. i really hope it is the same rate or lower, and that no one steals any of the parts off of this car (I've heard of people jacking emblems, rims, and the hood often).

people steal the wing. i've seen a few wingless evos in the elmhurst area of queens. also since your've personally experienced the car first hand now. your telling me that you didn't notice a hugh night and day difference between your Z and the evo? you should be taking turns as fast as you can with that car. that car is such a joy to drive and its a monster in the corners. i mean you can hop on a 180 degree freeway on ramp at 60mph. i'm sure your too scared to push the car now. but you probrably am not feeling the car now but over time you will understand that the evo is no joke and its a cornering beast with decent enough straight away speed.

yeah dude, if you're not going to push the car around corners - you should've just kept the stupid camaro.

You're driving an AWD beast that's built for rally racing - and you're not pushing it around turns? What a waste...

you gotta get a feel for the car before you go all out with it. now this is really a waste:

shit... ill take the rims...lol.. .but ya... thats true, you do need to take some time to get a good feel for the car until you go all out in it, especially an EVO cause you don't want you pretty blue car to look like that ^^^^^^^^^^

I don't care if it is a Formula 1 car. If you guys are driving on public streets like that you all deserve to be drag out of your houses and shot! If your car can do that great.... take it to a road track or SCAA events.

No offense but you didn't just pay close to $30K for a car. I've only owned it for 2 days, and I use to race all the time down Angeles Crest. i think you will have alot more respect to learn a car's boundaries after you almost crash off of a 2000+ feet cliff, as I almost did w/ a 86 Buick Skyhawk Turbo. I know it handles well. I'm gonns take my time though.
