Lancer Evolution 8 MR...coming to the U.S.??

Yeah...my friend at school said he heard this in some DSM or Evo website. I believe the Evo 8 MR, but coming to US? i thought it was based at Japan?! well, anyways, i see this Evo is pretty quick, according to the parts a read, its hittin mid 12s stock...??? riiiite...have you guys heard of it coming here?

i'm not sure wherer you are, but here in arizona dealers are supposed to get the first shipment in february/march.

Yup its comming out here, but VERY limited. If I remember right only around 1000 will be here.

Even though there will be a limited number of MRs, don't worry. Some of the MR's improvements will be available on the other '05 Evos. All Evos will get the aluminum door beams and roof panel, improved power and torque, and ACD. With even less weight to carry around now, the Evo RS might just be the model to get.

I would get the RS, but it has no radio, no air conditioner, and no power windows. Also it doesnt have the very strong lights like the standard. On top of that I dont think an Evo looks right without the wing.

Speaking of wings, do you Evo guys think it is stupid to put the Evo wing on a lancer ES, OZ etc.?

Yea I dont like seeing that. I hate all conversions, in fact I seen a Lancer, with an Evo 7 conversion. Looked horible. I didnt like it.

You can get the 'Urban Jungle Jackage' added to the RS and get the amenities you mentioned. I don't think you get ABS back, though. You'd still have a decent weight savings over the standard Evo. The standard Evo won't have Xenon lights anymore, at least as standard equipment. I don't see why you couldn't add the carbon wing to the RS, either. You might even be able to add the roof edge vortex generator from the MR, too.

Cool, but I'de go with the standerd. Yo, do you know if you can get the MR 6-speed tranny for the standerd Evo. I know you can, but should I try the dealer? Thats what I plan for, when I get the Evo

The 6-speed is supposed to be MR exclusive. Many consider the regular 5-speed to be better, anyway.
