Exclamation Question to FWD e-brake drifters

Hello! I am just starting to drift on snow and water with my FWD 323 hatchback with the e-brake, and I was wondering at how fast you guys were drifting with the e-brake to see what is pretty much the maximum of these little hatchback.

Im talking about a real drift! At least 20degree!

Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

I'd say at least 160 kph, otherwise you're not going fast enough to really kick the rear around when you pull the e-brake.

Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

how bout we not be dicks, and not flame the fwd guy asking questions, and explain that, technically, you can't drift fwd cars.
you can "ass drag" but that's not real drifting.

Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

OK well you can drift most anything. I have a couple videos of older civics drifting. Linking drifts, drifting right long side RWD cars. So it can be done. You will take a bunch of flack from the RWD drifters about this subject im sure.

flywis what is a drift, technicly? Is it breaking the rear loss around a corner, or a series of corners? Please define drifting, cause the videos i have of these FWD cars sure seems like drifting to me. If someone is willing to hoste these videos i will gladly put them up.

Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

Breaking rear tractions does not mean drifting, its a powerslide, which is fundamentally different.

Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

Don't let these guys talk down on your FWD 'drift'... they have been doing it for years in Japan although it's not popular as RWD drift! The 323 is actually a good platform for RALLY and it's good to know that someone is drifting one! I actually got one in my back-yard sitting... I was hoping to get it rally-ready!

As for SPEED I will actually have to look into that and see how fast the other FWD's drift... but I'm sure I will have an answer by tomorrow! There is a DRIFT TEAM in Japan called FF Revolution that drift only... you guessed it: FF/FWD cars! ...mainly Civics and CRX's.

you keep saying FWD is power sliding. you must be an idiot.

power slide requires= POWER TO THE REAR WHEELS. Thats why its called power slide.

UM FWD??? NO power to the rear wheels! Its not POWER SLIDE!

WHAT IS DRIFTING? = INDUCED CONTROLLED LOSS OF TRACTION

What happens when your rear slides? LOOSE TRACTION

What do you do when you loose the traction? CONTROL IT!

You can call it ass drag, whatever you want, but it is what it is. and its not power slide!

Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

Uh oh, looks like we have a flame war begining . Ok well it seems everyone has a different diffinition of drifting. But even so FWD can drift. The can eniciate the drift before entering the corner, can cary it through the corner, and continue it till exit, they can also link corners. So as far as im conserned the can drift.

As for the corner speed, it will vary on the amount of traction you have, the surface you are on, type of tires, your skill. But to use the e-brake to initate the slide, you can do that at almost any speed.

Re: Re: Question to FWD e-brake drifters

Just gotta set some of these "hardcore" internet drifters where they belong. And i'm not trying to flame anyone but this is really getting old. Everytime someone posts about fwd cars, everyone jumps and rants and rants and rants.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But whats stupid is if they cannot back up their opinion. Driftings definition says it all... nothing that says you have to be rwd, or you have to be putting power to the rear. Go read any race physics book... they explain drifting fairly well.

323, if you really are serious about FWD drifting and want to get into it... props to you my friend. Get grippy tires in front, shitty tires in the back... toe out your rear tires, put more front camber and go to the track and practice A LOT. You wont be competetive as the RWD guys but you'll receive respect from those who understand.

Its more difficult to maintain a FWD car sideways than it is for a RWD. So if you pull it off, its a great accomplishment.

Good luck! peace

NEVER FEAR, SOYO IS HERE!

ok first off read these threads I've posted in about this topic:
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=185939
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=175931

I didn't post in this one but there are some dumb people in it talkign about FF drifting too so I guess I'll link it anyways
http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...d.php?t=165104

ok I hope that clears up the fact that FWD cars CAN NOT DRIFT!! do I have to keep saying this over and over? since I'm kind of in a hurry I'm gonna leave it at that, but if you start posting about it again, or someone else I'll be forced to flame you all untill I successfully get a mod to close the thread, yes I know some of you hate me for it, but its kind of like being a super hero, they save the world from evil, I save this forums from idiots... good day

Soyo - keep it civil please. your last remarks were removed for a reason. do not repeat this reason.

actually, come to think of it, everyone keep it civil please. the guy is only asking for advice. he doesn't want you to tell him what's what. he wants to try something and wants help, so give him help or leave this topic.
