Exclamation 300zx Drift?

Has anyone attempted to drift the mighty Z32??? I just bought one in favor of fixing my 240sx... more power!!! It's the NA not turbo though. Just wondering cus I'm gonna try! I know it's probably more suited for GRIP but lets see............

You'll have a hard time getting it to break traction... It seems all Z's come with positive rear camber... which makes it hard to break the ass end lose.

My '72 240z has positive rear camber.. so does my friends '79 280zx.. and my other friends '95 300zxtt, and my friends '03 350z...

Honestly, your 240sx would be the better choice for 'drifting'. Z's are made to grip.

Re: 300zx Drift?

Yup... maybe I'll just whoop on you drift-guys on the touge with grip! DRIFT is going a lil' too mainstream for me! I mean drift is one of the most bad-ass motor-sports around next to rally... but it's kinda disheartening to see it so mainstream. What's next? 2Fast 2Dorifto?
That's kinda why I opted to buy the Z32 rather than fixing the 240... too many kids with "drift-spec" 240's!!! I mean... I'm not hating on you guys! More props to ya!
On a lighter note... ANYONE GOING to the D1GP in Irwindale? I bought my tickets like a month ago! It kinda sux that they are NOT selling the Track-Side tickets in advance! What's the point to that? Does anyone know how much more the Track-Side is gonna cost-?

Re: 300zx Drift?

The tickets cost $25! For Feb 28th! If you wanna get track-side... you better be there early with me (5am)! I heard the track-side is limited to only a few hundred people... per a D1 rep! The rest of the venue is garunteed to sell-out! BUY YOUR TICKETS NOW ONLINE BOYS AND GIRLS!
I figured I probably could drift my 300zx... but many people say it's too hard and that I should of stuck with my 240sx. I just wanna try it once!

Re: 300zx Drift?

I'M NOT SURE MYSELF IF MY 300zx HAS ADJUSTABLE CAMBER!!! I don't even know if it has an LSD or not! I don't know much about my car just yet... I used to be a hardcore 240sx kinda guy... but here I am. If any of you guys know something I don't know please let me know. The Z forum guys are kinda pricks when it comes to Z questions. I just wanna know about my car so I can have fun with it... like touge racing/grip or drifting!

Re: 300zx Drift?

Yes the 300ZX can drift. Has gobs of tourqu to get to get it loose. But it is a little harder due th the HICAS system. But YES you can drift the 300ZX. Any car can drift, just some easier than others.

Re: 300zx Drift?

My Z is AT anyway.... not sure you can drift AT. Has it ever been tried. I'm probably better suited for grip.

Re: 300zx Drift?

you all are forgetting one major thing. The 300ZX Z32 constantly over heated, simply due to the fact nissan designers wanted a low coefficient drag (0.31 i belive).. let me toss this pic out their... But, then again, maybe the N/A cars didnt have the same problem.
