Question AWD question

OK '94 got me thinking. If you did an AWD swap would the forces on the front axels be less since it's being transfered to the rear? Conversely could you get away with relatively wimpy rear axels??

Re: AWD question

I wouldn't dream of it. I would love to see you 'Sol when it's done though (and steal all your ideas then! )

Why not just throw the motor in the trunk and make it RWD?

Re: AWD question

on solsociety.com someone is making a AWD sol and i beleive 2 guys have done rear wheel drive sols. The AWD will be so sweet, but the RWD is gunna be kinda bad except for its different. Also, its not stealing ideas, its barrowing them, because then you both can do it, not just one

Re: AWD question

solsociety.com AWD sol would be me. Nice to meet you too. RWD is too easy. Why do only custom fabbing in the back when you can do it all the way around?

And Raley... no offense, but you're a newbie... don't go trying to play peacekeeper when you don't even know what's going on... Nothing irks me more than that.

Re: AWD question

Re: AWD question

lol Raley you're really starting to irritate me. Did I say I had superior knowledge? No.. but to be quite frank with not only you but everyone else on here, I don't really wanna disclose too much info on how it's being done until it's done. Not saying any of you would take my idea, but there are a lotta lurkers around here. I wasn't born with car knowledge, and especially on the AWD deal.. I've had to go through stacks of books learning how this is done, I've been at the honda dealership almost every day asking them questions... if information is wanted, there's this amazing thing called the internet that tells you everything you want to know, or an IM that's sent to me and I'll tell a little more. But basically, this project is me and Mike's baby, so the exact stuff on it stays between me and Mike until the car is debuted hopefully at Nopi next year. Thanks.

Emily,
Nothing wrong with keeping it to yourself if it's a showcar project. Car shows are very competitive so you need all the edge you can get, which includes keeping quiet on a project until it's done.

And if someone really wants to find out, they have the same resources that you have to find out. Best of luck with your project. I'm sure you'll have a how-to on it when you're done to share with the masses. Besides, it's easier to share info when you've actually done it and confirmed the research. Accurate, reliable information is better when it's been proven rather than sharing assumptions and theories.

Re: AWD question

i support your thinking there emily, but still think, the internet (you are on the internet) so you can share info, and help others. I'm to poor to do this kinda thing, only in high school. But still am very interested about it and how it all works.

Re: AWD question

good.. you're interested.. you know where I started? www.howthingsword.com and there's a diagram of an AWD chassis on there. Ok there was the basic idea of how it works.. Then I searched on yahoo and found technical drawings of S2000s and AWD CR-V's. So now it was more detailed. I already knew the older CR-V parts would mate right up with my current engine, but then I started thinking more, because I found a totalled 2002 CR-V for sale. Under the hood, it didn't have a B20 block. It said I-VTEC on it. So after a moment of going "WTF?!" I again searched. Ooooooh... 2002,2003,2004 CR-V's have a K20 in them. Hey... wait a minute... K20... that's in the Acura RSX type S!! Albeit the RSX's K20 is tuned more to performance whereas the CR-V's is for torque. So that got me thinking.. I can get the best of both worlds.. get a Type S K20... and since the CR-V parts are K series the AWD transmission will bolt onto it.. then what do I have to do? And don't talk to me about poor.. I have like $20 to my name right now and a car payment due 5 days ago.
