hi there...
i was just reading this page http://www.posracing.net/JoeB.html and found his best performance to be 13.01 and 108mph only... i am planning to have the same mods as him in my 2g and my goal is also 350hp... although i dont race and just doing this for fun... i was wondering why is his time slow (13.01) dont u think for this set up it should be faster??? or am i missing something here?? i'm just curious.... he has the same mods that i have in my mind for my car but his one is 1g my is 2g.... but why is his time only 13.01 i was guessing he should have around 12 or mid 11 for that set up

Re: POS RACING ---> joe's 1990 AWD question!!!
I think tht was the only time he went to the track on that setup
I dont want to speak for him, but I also heard he was shifting at 6500, and he also doesnt launch hard. The mph is good for 12.5 once he gets some practice with the car. ITs also his firts awd. And a mid 11 is the absolute maximum a 16g will run. I only knwo of 2-3 people that have done it.

Re: POS RACING ---> joe's 1990 AWD question!!!
There are very few mid-11 16g's
If you can break into 11's with a 16g you are doing something right. There could be many reasons he is right at 13 seconds. For a comparison, here is a mod list for 18psi making 330whp '93 Eagle Talon Tsi (4G63t) 16G (regular) ported & clipped 3" o2 HSG, downpipe, testpipe & exhaust HKS 272 Cams 2G MAF FMIC (using spearco 2-221 core) Denso 510cc/min inj. Walbro 255lph HP pump Apex S-AFC EDIT>> I don't think anyone knows what was going through my head when i threw that up, I was going to say that Joe has stock internals, smaller exhaust, could have a cat, smaller pump (dont know what that means) so if I had to guess, i'd say he isn't quite at 350whp. |

Re: POS RACING ---> joe's 1990 AWD question!!!
ya should be... and one more thing...it may sound stupid
does the weight of a car has any relation to horse power??? and also lets say i am using a 16g with almost the same mods as joe's car what is a safe (for the engine and turbo) psi for a daily driving in cities and wat psi for highway driving (lets say for more than 6-8 hours non stop driving)???

Re: POS RACING ---> joe's 1990 AWD question!!!
Weight of a car won't affect it's power output, but power doesn't mean anything really except how fast it will go in a given amount of time (or distance) and reducing weight will allow you to accelerate a body of matter faster. Takes a lot more power to move a heavier vehicle, think semi truck) and it takes a lot more to stop it. (air brakes with discs the size of the moon)
The regular 16g on the setup i mentioned above for reference topped out at 18psi. I believe with a few more mods, you could increase the boost a few pounds. You can set your car (boost controller) to 'run' 20psi but you aren't going to use or stress the turbo unless you are full throttle. What you set it at does not matter, but if you were to race light to light, your cooling system should be sufficient to maintain a decent temp, but i'm sure you could stop racing around if the turbo was glowing. |
