you have to keep the stock unit hooked up behind the dash, and just bypass the wires to the aftermarket head. you can't remove the stock head completely without getting rid if your keyless.

Just get an alarm. I bought mine at crutchfield and it has a keyless wirings and they also gave you a new remote too...best way. Otherwise...you gotta split the wires and keep the oem head unit in there...I'd say get an alarm if you haven't.

Just hope your car is park in a safe place...you know what I mean...just a peace in your mind if you have an alarm installed...but in order for it to work, you just gotta split the OEM wires to the new wires that you bought with the new head unit. I think that's how you do it and your dome light should work too. I had the same problem until I bought the alarm...still the dome light doesn't work...gotta bring it to the shop again. I'll figure out something to do.

If you look at the back of your head unit, you will see some plugs. Some harnesses are not used by your new head unit, plug it back to your stock head unit, and go get another set of harness...let say junk yard or wherever so that you can plug it in your oem head unit. So it would look like you have 2 sets of harnesses. Then open up your manual or a Haynes manual...there should be wiring information of which wire does what...

Since you have the remote harness connected to the OEM head unit...now you need a power harness which you would get at the junk yard or whevever, and split the correct wires from the harness that you connected to your new head unit, and dont forget to plug back the antenna to your OEM head unit...you get it? I'm trying to say from my memory from the same problem that I had before the alarm. Just look at your harness and you will see how it works and just use your creativity and modify it if you didn't get what I just said.

Talking

hey man, I have a 98 civic ex with keyless entry.... i hid my headunit behind the 12 volt cigarette thingy (even thought its not a cigarette lighter) i bought 2 harnesses... one for the new headunit and one for the factory. Its confusing to explain but I did it. You have to splice in to the factory headunit off of the aftermarket one (12 volt ignition, and remote) If you want to hid it where I hid it you also need to remove the face of the factory stereo. I wish I would have gotten an alarm system to save me some time. oh well. anyway.... if you need more help aim me at aprather24
