Question body differences between 96-98 civic &99-00 civic

Ok I have a 97 civic ex and i want to make it into an si. I'm gettin a usdm b16a2 and si tails and si guages but the thing that concerns me is that instead of a kit i might just get 99-00 civic front and back bumper. I know those fit on directly or with little modification but are the lights the same from 96-00 or do 96-98 have a different kind and if they do can i put 99-00 civic headlight on it and if i did would i have to replace the hood with a 99-00 hood??? Most likely i will get a get though black widow most likely but i still want the 99-00 clear headlights!!! Someone please help me thanx

Talking same diff

it'll be the same thing just not the same year!!! the same reason that ppl put a gsr engine in a civic to me it's just more effective. My car costs only 4900 engine 4000 and misc- rims, aftermarketparts 5000 that's still less than the price of just a stock si i just prefer to do it this way it's just more cost effective

I agree. The reason people swap GSR motors is for performance and performace only. There's a word enthusiasts use for people making their non-Si Civic look like an SI. POSER. If you are a true poser than I guess I can help. You need the whole front end. The hood, headlights, fenders, bumper, and core supprt. IMHO This the JDM forum. Keep this where it belongs.

the head and tails were consturucted differently, like the 99-00 ones have a more led-ish look to em.

well i guess what yall are sayin makes sense but even if i just swapped the engine wouldn't that be something like being a poser. I just really want the engine i don't care about the lights and bumper and all of that I just love the b16 engine itself and i want to put it in my car so does that still make me a poser???

No its not makin you a poser. A poser is someone being something there not. Even though your car is NOT an SI doesnt make u a poser, thats like saying everyone who does an engine swap is a poser. Say you put a gsr motor in your civic oh noo your a poser now cuz you want to be like an integra or what about people who do front end or rear end conversions are they posers because they want to look like another car.....come on give the guy a break.

You got it twisted. Read my first post. The reason people swap engines is for performance. Not because they wanted to be like a Teg. They did it to beat a Teg. Making your EX " LOOK " like an Si. IS posing. Swapping an Si motor is a totally different thing. People don't swap a GSR motor in their Civic and call it a 95 Civic GSR.

IMO it's returning the car to it's truest form and not posing as long as they don't call it a CTR or ITR. If they call it a CTR or ITR then yes, it's posing. Even then it's still better than posing as a shitty Si. If you wanted a Si you could've and should've bought one. If people want a CTR, you cant buy one so why not build something similar? Same with the JDM ITR. If you can't buy one then buy a USDM one and get the front end.

Why the hell is this in the JDM forum when you even mention "usdm b16a2"

Why the hell would you waste thousands of dollars for a bunch of stupid body work and still look like a stock Civic, Si or not

Why the hell did you even make this post when realistically you won't do any of it

somebody please make me a moderator

Ok ricochet i see your point about the usdm in the jdm forum but, the 96-98 civics are obd2 right, yes they are and the jdm b16a is obd1 right, yes the only b16 engines that are obd2 are the b16b and the usdm b16a2. And first you don't know me i was just askin what are the body differeences because i want a kit for it then again i want a stock look because around here where i live Greensboro,NC if somebody sees your car and likes it they take your whole style if you come here i bet you see the same exact looking car in about 20 different colors so i just wanted a stock look but it really wouldn't be stock but it wouldn't be worth anyone taking my style you see and realistically i would do but i don't want to be assumed as a poser i just like the way the 99-00 civics look and i mean i'm only 17 so a 15000 dollar car is not exactly in my budget just wanted to be different...
