Talking Mach1 with nitrous...

I was at a party last weekend and we had all the mustangs parked in one spot away from the mitsubishi's and honda's. The whole night my friend with an 86' GT was talking about this Mach1 that one of his friends had bought, and eventually he called him up and asked him if he wanted to race someone tonight... He said yeah he would be there in about 45 minutes. Sure enough, at 11:00 he came up and parked by my car. We went over there and asked him if he wanted to go already, he said no he didnt feel like it Well i went home, and went to sleep. My buddy gave me a call this weekend and asked me if i wanted to ride with the guy in the Mach1 to a party, so i said sure. He came and picked me up and my buddy in the 86' followed us. We pulled up to a redlight and i turned on the light to get some cd's out of a cd case and i looked down at the console to see a switch of some sort and some kind of button. I asked him what the hell that was for, he just told me to put on my seatbelt cause i'm about to find out.. He flipped the second switch and a huge cloud of smoke shot out of the hood (purge) He took of regular then at about 20 mph put the pedal to the metal and flipped the first switch. I heard my friend in his 86' banging every gear he could.Up to 100 mph I couldnt get out of the seat. Thank god i didnt race him cause i would have got Needless to say we left the guy in the 86'. So the question.... what would yall think a new Mach1 with a 100 shot of nitrous would run in the quarter. Hight 12's? I want one.

90Stangjc,

My question to you is, why didn't you already have your seatbelt on. Do you normally drive without a seatbelt?

High 12s, can he launch? I would say, high 12s is very possible.

Well i usually do but sometimes i forget. I'll be driving or riding down the road and remember it then put it on. It's a automatic so it launches perfect, it doesnt spin a bit taking off.

Usually reviewers will say they got it in the low 13's, but seems like somewhere said they got it to 12.97 or 12.95 or something.

Are you sure about those numbers? I know that they run 13s but I don't remember it running quite that low stock.

Wait, so if it ran high 12's stock, then it would run high 11's with nitrous, am i wrong? Doesnt feel like an 11 second car, that would be a little faster i thought. Well if so... I RODE IN A 11 SECOND CAR!!!

Re: Mach1 with nitrous...

They are "capable" of running high 12s on DRs.

It could be but also remmber that the faster you go the more HP you need to get the same time gains. If a 125HP shot will drop a high 14 second car to high 13's. Then all things being equal the same shot will not drop a high 12 second car into 11's.

So if I own a 12 sec car and I put 125 shot on it your saying I won't hit 11s?

Re: Mach1 with nitrous...

hes sayin that if you have a 12 second car and add 125 shot you CAN hit 11's but if you have a 7 second car you wont neccessarily hit 6s

Yep, I was going to say something to that effect. Other issue will arise the faster you go, Grip, aerodynamics, power, etc.
