But can someone explain to me why Viper's V10 sounds like a 4 cylinder?

It was all in the exhaust and the exhaust porting, or so I'm told. I am just glad the new ones have the mean sound to them.

How would that be done, the usual? Better muffler, bigger pipe, headers. If thats the case wouldn't it just sound like a louder 4 cylinder?

on the older vipers... before they put the exh out the back...

the side exh was separated... no H pipe... so you were only hearing 5 cyls...

that's a big part of it...

if you've got vids... put em in the video forum... that section is pretty dead... it could use new vids...

Even the ones with the pipes going out the back sound like 4 cylinders though. I have a video of a black w/silver stripes racing and it sounds just like this one. The video is called "Cream puff" Viper GTS.
