Oil leaking from oil filter....PLEASE HELP
Need help here please!
I recently had my oil filter replaced because I had a small leak coming from it that was causing a BIG stink ![]() This morning when I started my car I again have the same problem. Now, it only seems to happen when it's extremely cold outside. Could this be caused by BAD oil??? Could the oil be causing the seal in the filter to leak??? If so, would an oil change correct my problem? Thanks

Try using 5W30 oil for the Winter. Do regular oil changes. Maybe the relief valve in the filter housing is gummed up.

I do use 5W30 and I do get regular oil changes (every 5000 kilometers).
I just had the filter replaced because it was leaking and now the new one is doing the same thing after being installed 2 weeks ago. Any other ideas would be appreciated, thanks |

Re: Oil leaking from oil filter....PLEASE HELP
If it is the same mechanic, he might not tighten it enough, or, it could be that brand of filter. Try one of those. When it gets cold, if the filter isn't tight, the rubber seal will shrink and cause it to leak.
