I recently noticed oil seeping heavily from the oil filter adapter that's mounted to the engine block. I've read in other posts that it may be a bad o-ring. How do you replace it? Is this a job that can be done by a DIYer? If so how? Alternatively, if I went to a mechanic, how much should I expect to pay for repair? Thanks for any advice given.

Re: Oil Leak from oil filter adapter
As Dale is implying (at least I think he is), it's a fairly simple job depending on your engine.
I have the 4.0L and had to pull the adapter off to change the motor mount. Apparently, an earlier owner had a leak and used permatex to stop it. I had quite a problem getting it off. Once off the seals were shot. I spent more time locating the seals than it took me to replace them. Send Dale an e-mail. He'll hook you up! |
