I am trying to get a good idea on what kind of headers i want on my car, 95 accord 2 dr, LX. I have seen ad's for ceramic headers, or stainless steel, any idea on benefits of either? Also, will headers put more wear more quickly on my engine and if i get headers do i need to have them port matched? I figure if the headers are bigger but the ports where the exhaust is let out is the same size then there isn't going to be that much speed increase. Any input about the whole headers area would be appreciated

Re: Anyone with knowledge of headers
Um, I've been thru two sets of headers myself on my 94 accord. First set was the Matrix 2 piece ceramic. Its a 4-2-1 design. The piping sizes pretty much matches with the port of the exhaust out from the engine. I didn't really feel much or an increase in performance. There have been rumors that the 2 piece and especially if its just a 4-2-1 type headder, you wont really be expecting much anyways. Maybe just a 2 hp at most. I must say, that was so true with my experience. I then went and got the DC ceramic coated one piece headder. This was the 4-1 style I got now, and boy have I never expected the gains I got from this one. Let me just say that with the DC headder, a 2.25 inch cat back exhaust, NGK spark plugs with a set of cheap 9.3 mm APC wires and a short ram intake, when I get really lucky, I can chirp 3rd gear. My qtr at the time, I ran 15.5 secs. No Jokes!
But that is of course, with a good driver!! |
