Anyone with good general knowledge of electrical stuff?
I want to get a power inverter. But there are so many different wattage ratings, I'm really not sure what I need.
This power inverter would power A/C appliances such as coffee maker, hair dryer, toaster, or plug-in boombox. Without any clue what I really need, I was guessing a 750 watt (1,500 watt peak) inverter might cut it (after all, 750 is a big number, right? ) . . . but as the inverters get more powerful, they start getting much more expensive, fast.Anyway, the appliance ratings are: Coffee maker: 900 watts Toaster: 1500 watts Hair dryer: 1500 watts So, any ideas what I really need? Thanks in advance for any advice. |

Re: Anyone with good general knowledge of electrical stuff?
The 1,500 watt peak is not sustainable to the point you can power a hair dryer or a toater, it is simply the instantaneous load a motor would put into the inverter. You can only have a sustainable power output of 750 watts, any more than that and youŽll be tripping the fuse or circuit breaker quite often. Good Luck!
