Problem with Spare tire Cable

The other day I was going down the road, and the cable snapped that holds the spare tire. (1998 F-150). Does anyone know where I can , or how I can fix this. There appears to be enough residual cable to put something on the end of it, but I don't know where to start. Thanks in advance for any and all advise.

Re: Problem with Spare tire Cable

Agree w/ pete-adding a piece of cable would probably jam up the lifting part-or, just throw the spare in the bed.
