Arrow Dual exhaust vs. Big tailpipe

What do you guys think, my exhaust pipe is about to give out, and it's time for a new one. You see alot of ricers with their big tailpipes, but I am wondering if a quad tipped dual pipes (like on a Grand Am) would yield the same or more performance in the higher hp numbers.

The tips make little difference, but will the two pipes help out anything?

Personally I think four pipe tips coming out of the back of your car look more menacing than one giant one anyways.

so by exhasut pipe u mean a muffler? and if ur truly looking for performance i suggest that u get a entire cat-back system, if not id probally pick the quad tip/dual, that way ur car wont be riced out in my opinion

Re: Dual exhaust vs. Big tailpipe

oh and btw the more tips doesnt essentially mean it gives more hp. half the time its just 1 down pipe with a "y" so it gives the visual-effect of a dual when its really just a single with dual mufflers, real hp gains can be made through "true dual" exhaust which i dont think would help much since u have a 4-banger

4 Banger + Dual Exhuast = Bad
4 Banger + Big Tailpipe (eg. piping thats bigger than 2.25 while staying N/A) = Bad

Just get a nice catback and you'll be fine.

Yup, I did mean replacing the entire catback, and not just wielding on a quad tip muffler. Essentially, I am wondering if the Y would give a better exhaust flow. I probably should have put 'dual exhaust' in quotations.

Re: Dual exhaust vs. Big tailpipe

well i dont know about betterflow with a "y" pipe but i have heard with two mufflers one usually gives out before the other. i think u should stick with 1 muffler unless u prefer the look of two.

or if he wants, only use one, and have the other one hanging as a dummy. that is if its for the looks.

Re: Dual exhaust vs. Big tailpipe

if you have a 4-2-1 header, cut the 2 part and run dual exhaust from there. true dual exhaust then.

Re: Dual exhaust vs. Big tailpipe

i don't understand what is wrong with a nice cat-back system. tested by the company to provide the best gain while not sacrificing too much torque in the low end.
