Lightbulb Spark plug gap !!

I own a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant ES 2.4L SOHC Auto. The car won't start and I believe it has something to do with the spark plug gap. What should the plugs be gapped at? Also, and other troubleshooting info I should check on. Also, any info about the small gray know on the dizzy (distributor) would be helpful, such as where it's suppose to be set at. Thanks. - Don
