Spark plug gap with performance

What is advantage of adjusting the gap. I read on the org. that some of the NOS guys regap their plugs at .38.. im not sure if i am losing gas milage b/c i have mine at .45.. stock is .44.. does anyone know?

I asked the same Q a while back and from the feedback: Just leave it alone. Unless you have NOS or blower you don't need to change it. But I am still curious if changing it to the min. spec would make a differance!

If your stock you should have it set at .044. If your running NOS, you should reduce the gap .004 for every 50 HP you add, including Y-pipe, intake, etc.

thanks matt, i need to close the gap to .39 then. What are the advantages of doing this?? I was just curious.. Would these make better sparks or so? Im sqeezing NOS and you were right, its sweeet!!:sun:
