insurance as$holes, long story

so i wake up on new years morning, and i find that my car was broken into and they stole most of my system (dvd, amp, subs), and to make matters worse, they keyed up my whole car. so great fucking way to start the new year right? anyways, i call my insurance etc and theyre ok theyll send somebody out as soon as they can. i fax them the receipt for what was stolen, which was about $3800 worth of stuff, and i guess that made them flip. they call me and tell me to take my car to one of their authorized shops or whatever so they can verify that i had that stuff or something. and when i get there, the first thing the guy at the shop says is, hey, do you go to this school and im like yeah, and then he says .. hmm, yeah, i know your car.. thats weird right?? so the guy looks at my car, fills out some papers, i ask him if everythings cool, and he says i guess. now some guy from my insurance calls saying hes from special investigations or some crap and asks me all these questions making me feel interrogated. i ask him whats up with all this stuff you guys are doing to me, and he says that well it seems like my car has a couple of symptoms of insurance fraud or something like that, and that pisses me off cuz i was like what the hell, i never went to insurance about anything, i get jacked on new years, and its been a week now and all they do is have different people calling me asking weird questions that have nothing to do with me getting my car repaired. he asks me where i got my car, and i said i went to an auction with a shop and asks for the name of the shop. and hes like yeah it says here that your car was stolen before you got it from the shop. so that means he knew the name of the shop already and i was like what the hell does the cars history have to do with me, especially if its before i EVEN OWNED the car. then he asks how i paid for my system and i said cash, and hes like did you take the money from an account and i said no. so his ass is trying to look at my bank statements now or something? and he says that its weird that my car was keyed on all panels and had no forced signs of entry. im like shit, my car got keyed, how do i know what theyre doing, its never happened. and my windows arent broken so how do i know how they got in? lots of thieves dont break windows anyways right? then hes like yeah its also weird that it happened in front of my house, NO SHIT IT SURPRISES ME TOO. so now im thinking of switching insurance companies as soon as this whole thing clears up, because it seems like they take my money so easily but when theyre supposed to back me up they go through all kinds of bullshit. so yeah just venting, anybody else have insurance dick them around?

that really sucks. sorry to hear that man. insurance companies are always a rip off. they take your money so easily and when you try to claim...they give you such a hard time.

i dunno how you handled the insurance agent first, but i know from second hand experience that you have to be firm and demanding, near threatening, when it comes to get compensated. my dad got rear ended, and his toyota was totaled, after about a week you told them straight up, that he had been using his truck to commute, and would also be getting compensated for the difference in gas (back when gas was +$2). within the next day they got him a rental focus until all the paperwork was filled out and filed, now he's got another toyota.

yeah i know i have to be firm, i just hate talking to those type of people. and i did some research, and it seems that state farm has a big history/reputation of accusing people of fraud etc. just so they can deny or delay claims so they dont lose money. ass holes.

http://www.voy.com/1304/48.html

i wonder if geico or aaa etc have these types of histories

Man thats messed up, sorry to hear about your car, ive had my stuff jacked before and it sucks, but we only had liabilty at the time so i was really screwed. I have state farm too, and they tend to be assholes about things, but thats just my perspective, maybe they are trying to protect there investment, but that doesnt mean they have to be assholes about it. Ive got a buddy who has Geico or w/e and its not only cheap for him, but they have been pretty damn good to him, two new engines and one Getrad tranny all covered because it was "damaged" during a wreck ,when in fact he blew them all lol. Give them a call and see what prices they offer you. my only suggestion is to be firm, like the other guys said and dont let them run you over ,its there job to reimburse you, you might even want to look into getting an attorney depending on how bad it gets.

Dicking around is what Insurance companys do best, getting money is never easy. I have Gieco and I'm switching after I move, they've got me by the balls on my payments I'm 18 have a 93 Teg LS Hatchback, CLEAN driving record and I'm paying $232 a month for liability But for Vermont that's the cheapest I could get by $500 every 6 months, soon to be back with State Farm in GA, $85 a month for liability... but I might get full coverage, not sure.

Oh and I did have to deal with State Farm before, I was rearended in my mothers car, they paid up very quickly actually....

next time just make sure u don't pay anything in cash, and if u do keep the reciepts. i don't don't about other insurance co., but with the few i was with, if u have full coverage and bought aftermarket items for your car, they won't refund it unless u have some kind of transaction statement. i myself, barley even use cash anymore most of the things i buy are through my visa check card, so everything gets recorded.

to kornboy, man ur paying an arm and a leg for insurance, but again ur only 18. still, for liability that's highway robbery.

i did have a receipt, and they told me they ran the phone number that was on it and the last name was very similiar to mine/the same, and i was like.. that is the MOST COMMON last name for my nationality, there are more of us than there are smiths and browns, so now i definately feel descriminated. my friend was like, asian guy in a gsr with system, how do u expect those people to treat you
