Wrecked my dads toy but I actually fixed it! (lots of pics) Long story too.

Yesterday Afternoon, My dad wanted me to detail his 1973 Detamaso Pantera. It took me about two hours to do. After that, he let take it on a little cruise through town. I also had to pick up some stuff from the local market. So one my way back from the market. I pull into the first street to the neighborhood I live in. Its a long curvy road to get to my house and all of a sudden, Two deers pop out oonto the road I saw them but I hit the brakes as hard as I can and the brakes locked up. I skidded for about 100 ft barely missing the deer and I end up skidding through gravel. the car slid and swent onto a sidewalk and I hit a fire hydrant. The car came to a stop, but the amazing thing was the hydrant did not explode or burst water. It happened to be a dead spare fire hydrant left on the side. It also look really old too. But I backed out the car and I just see this huge dent onb the bottom grill I come back and dad saw that. He was pissed to see it and first but he was amazed that I didn't get hurt. He was angry for that night. I was thinking how I could fix it. Here are some of the car wut it looked like a few hours ago I spent two hours fixing the car. I was lucky becasue the grill used a flat black paint so I bought a can and got some tools and started fixing it. My dad is now impressed with me because the car now look like it never got into an accident. t took me two hours to fixit. I'm going to put the parts back on tommorow when the paint dires. Anyways here are the pics! Enjoy!

Heres the damage I put on

I found out that this part was put on by screws so I removed it eaasily and just popped out the damage and resprayed it.

I just painted it three hours ago

Tommorow I'll get more pics. My dad was amazed that I fixed it and he and I saved $1,000.

Acquiring a Pantera isn't hard. There are a few of them punting around and they haven't inflated in value, yet.

Still, good on you for giving DIY panelbeating an honest attempt

Most Panteras in America cost between 20,000- even 45,000 dollars. We found this one alomost 10 years ago in a Ferrari dealer in San Francisco. My dad was able to get for $19,000 Not bad for a Italian car with a Ford 351 Clevland with 400 HP.

better the hydrant than the deer...

good to realize how lucky you can get sometimes though.

and jim, panteras are starting to go up in price around here... sadly, i can't take advantage of getting one before they go up in value

btw, that's a beautiful car

Wow, great deal, how many miles?

And I know Panteras aren't too rare, but it's certainly not the first choice most people pick when thinking 'exotic'

It has 55,000 miles but the new engine that we put in 7 years ago only has 7,000 miles on it.

Good fix.

We once had a renter who'd gotten a Pantera for her 16th birthday. Guess how many weeks it lasted? Yep, less than one....

This same renter had a thing where she called all her boyfriends "mark" so as to avoid calling out the wrong name. She went through 10+ boyfriends in the time she rented from us, and never dated someone NOT named Mark.

yeah, close call man. thankfully the damage wasn't greater. i know I wouldn't trust myself with a car like that because i probably would have been going 40 miles per hour faster than you were at the time!
