t-top conversion
I just picked up an 88 gt 2 dr. hardtop and was wondering if anyone ever attempted to convert over to t-tops? Is it possible?

Possible yes but even though people charge a premium for T-tops it's just cheaper to buy a t-tops stang

yes, you could convert. i dont' know of anybody who's tried it. bear in mind that you essentially have to replace the entire roof, which is a lot of cutting, grinding, welding, body work, paint, etc. and if the fit is wrong, you're just fucked.
also, bear in mind that you will be sacrificing a great deal of chassis stiffness, so if you intend to drop a big motor in this car i would scrap the idea. it'll just twist itself into a prezel. that's all just my opinion, tho

Re: t-top conversion
It is possible, but you'll end up with a car as rigid as a wet dishrag and useless on the strip. It will never be fast but at least you'll have a wet ass every time it rains.

Holly crap it's Big Dan!! Where have you been man??
I remeber finding a site a while back where a guy cut the roof off a t-top car and put it onto his solid roof car. What a hack job it was, not to mention he probably lost all resale value.

Re: t-top conversion
yeah, go with a sunroof kit if that's what you want.
I hear the sunroof kit is easier to do, and is better overall.

T-tops are sick. I can see your affinity and desire for one, but if you are set on getting them the best thing to do is to just buy a car wit them. Then replace the weather stripping.
