t-top conversions

i just bought a 97 camaro ss and it doesnt have t-tops and that was one of the big things i was looking for, but i got a awesome deal on this car so i couldnt pass it up. what i would like to know is if there is a kit or someone who knows how i could do that conversion, and where i could get all the parts nessessary to do it.

a 97 z/28 SS????

man, its tough to do a conversion, from what i understand. Ive only heard of a couple people havin it done, and the end result leaked.
But it can be done, im just not sure who would do it. I'm almost positive there is not a kit.

later in life i plan on buying a Z06, but they only come hard top, so ill have to do a conversion too

Re: t-top conversions

its do-able. its actually not too hard, depending on your fabrication skills and background. i have seen kits for the conversion and i have seen people do it by the seat of their pants. end result didnt look too bad in both cases, and the leaking problem can be dealt with and avoided all together if you take your time and do the conversion right...

Re: t-top conversions

yea, i was looknig at a really good car, at a really good deal, but no t-tops, did research into doin it... it is doable, but expensive, and most shops dont want to touch it or make you sign a waiver. The T-tops and all the accessories cost quite a bit. You are better off, just like w/ any conversion, to now sell the car and buy one you want, if you got such a deal you should be able to make a profit on it.

Re: Re: t-top conversions

I wouldn't do any kind of modifications on a real SS car. They only made 3038 SS cars in 97 and only 454 of them were non t-top cars. I would sell that one and find one that did have t-tops before I made a cut on it.
