squeaking after Eibach install
Since I've installed my Eibachs springs and new endlinks I've noticed a squeaking noise coming from the right rear wheel. The noise is consistent with the speed of the car, but it stops when I apply the brake.
BTW...In order to swap out the rear springs I had to remove the calipers. Could putting them back on too tight or too loose cause this squeaking to happen? |

IMO it could be from the caliper....but i wonder if maybe its comming from a inproperly seated spring....
for the caliper it should be easy...take the wheel off and resintall the caliper making sure you install it properly....you might also want to consider taking off the pads and putting some silicon on the back to prevent them from rattling

Need a little more information than that:
Is the noise only at certain speeds? and is it consistent as it squeaks all the time, or only when it hits bumps? Are you absolutely positive it is from the new springs? When you brake it relieves most of the pressure on the springs, so it probably is something involving the springs or struts. When you put the caliper back on did you tighten one bolt all the way down, then the other? or did you make one snug then the other snug before tightening all the way? Put your car in park with everything off, then just simply rock the car up and down by pushing on it, and see if you can hear the noise still. Otherwise it might be a hub bearing, or even something rubbing somewhere.

The noise is a repetitive squeak. It was definately not there prior to the spring install. The faster I go the more it squeaks...the slower I go the bigger the time interval between squeaks. When I hit the brakes the noise goes away. There seems to be no relation between bumps and this noise as far as I can tell. It's consistent with speed.

Unfortunately I cannot answer this. As I was doing the work on the left rear side my buddy was doing the work on the right rear...the problem side. On the left side I got each bolt finger tight, then finished the work with the ratchet. I'm the novice and he's the amateur enthusiast though for whatever that's worth. ![]() I'll go out to the car right now and push it around. So emergency brake should be off I guess for this test? I'm parked on a flat surface so it's cool either way. |

I couldn't re-create the squeaking noise, but I did hear a popping sound coming from the left rear strut tower when I bounced the car up and down. Wonder what the hell that is?

what bushings dis you use (if any).
synthetic bushings are stiffer, but they tend to squeak.

The squeak has been fixed...
Instead of putting the car up on the ramps or playing with the strut tower I decided to take a quick look at the caliper this morning before doing anything else. I grabbed the jack and tire iron out of the trunk and then...WTF! There were 2 lugnuts missing on the wheel. Totally gone! Two others were loose. I took my fiance's truck to Kragen and bought a lugnet set for $5. I took a quick drive and the squeak is gone. I'll order another OEM set from my Dodge dealer tomorrow. This is the last time I let somebody, other than a professional, work on my car. I'm lucky that wheel didn't fall off on the freeway Friday night. I'm so pissed right now. I've decided to cut my losses and let the alignment shop fix that popping sound on the left side when I bring the car in on Tuesday. Live and learn. BTW...I used Energy Suspension brand urethane bushings. I haven't put the new set on the front sway bar yet but I'm planning on doing it next weekend. |
