Engine Squeak after turning off ignition
I have a 91 g20 auto
Every time i turn off the engine, there is this sort of quick "squeak/whine" sound in the engine. This sound seems to come from something spinning down, and lasts a short fraction of a second. (squeweeek) This just recnetly started, but what couold cause this sound? Also, sometimes there is this whining sound that the car makes when it switches gear (esp from first to second, and sometimes from second to third) any insight would be appreciated thx

i've been hearing the exact same squeak too. i hear it about a half a second before the crank stops. it sounds like a rusty clamp grabbing the flywheel at the very last second.

Have a listen in the engine compartment - does it come from the inlet manifold area?? If so, it's one of the motors winding down. Mine's started doing it, I guess it's just worn bearings.
Also, on the P11 (may be different for G20), there is some tinware shrouding between the manifold and exhaust. This has come loose on mine and resonates at certain rpm's - including when turning ignition off. Sounds like a bad tinny-rattle. |
