Cherokee Racing!

Im getting rid of my Cherokee '89 this week and was just reflecting back on the good memories we have had. I know Jeep Racing isnt exactly common but I was wondering how many of you have done it? I have beat a couple Civics, an explorer and some Truck, it was a lot of fun. Got beat by a 3000gt, eclipse gst and RX-7

Re: Cherokee Racing!

xj are not to be raced on the street, not to stable when somebody pulls out in front of you and you have to make a defensive maneuver..a friend of mine rolled his xj when a anus pulled out in front of him while racing..not tring to sound like a father figure, just giving my own opinion..if you want to run the the xj try"jeepspeed.com'' be safe!!!

Re: Cherokee Racing!

Excellent sleeper, never beaten.. with my 95 cheroke or my 98 cherokee, cept by a modded tahoe beat many a civic, a few eclipses, anything small it could own, loved racing camaros on wet pavement, just shift down into 4hi and hit it, they didnt know what hit em! went to nopi in my 98, drove around atlanta looking for races the second night we were there, well, it had been RUN INTO (TOTALED) teh day we went down there, yeah, email me for that story, 4 people in it, cruisin round atlanta, lookin for races... ROASTED a ranger, DEVASTATED a Turbo dodge neon... u name it, we did to it, still was able to pull 130 on the highway on teh way back. turns out, we took it to a garage when we got home, adn teh axle was skewed, frame bent, gas tank had holes, pipes were bent, very bad, and we shouldnt have been able to make it home, but as i like to say, its a jeep, course it made it home. bad-fuckin-ass. but, now i have a 98 trans am, so... im stil happy, kind of, now i have people wanting to race me for money, and this car isnt a sleeper

Re: Cherokee Racing!

I raced it once and lost, I could keep up with this car (sorry, don't know what it was) until we hit a part of the road where it turned into a regular two-lane, topped at 70mph (75? 80?), and before a turn where the most fastest I ever went on it was 45mph, it's a tight 90 degree turn.

There was also this other time when I was challenged; it was stupid (won't do it again), but fun. It was to see if i could keep up with a crappy 2-door Ford car and going through a suburban street without falling behind and losing it.

We went through nearly a mile of tight corners, one lane roads, over blind hills, nearly missing people and cars on the side of the road, and running stop signs like they weren't there... I could hear both of our tires squeling as we pounded on our brakes to make a sharp 90 degree turn. To say the least, I passed.

Then the engine started smoking when we finally got to our destination. It's fine now, except the treads are almost nonexistant and I need new tires.

On a personal note, I'm a pizza delivery driver and that Jeep has done much more for me than I expected. Despite the fact that it's top-heavy, unmodified, and uses up gas like a bitch (refill ever 2 or 3 days); it's fun going through suburban streets at double the limit.

Yeah, I'm a newb here.

Re: Cherokee Racing!

Well I got my new 3000GT today (this is Crimson btw) but I raced a few cars the other night. I beat my friends 93' 4 liter mustang by about 6 car lenghts and counting, I beat a modded 240sx off the line but he caught up, couple more civics, etc. Its been fun and ill miss the jeep, but I have a new baby now.
