Check engine light on 89 cherokee
This might be a dumb question, but I have consulted with the auto parts stores, chiltons, owners manual, and everywhere but I can't find a check engine light on my jeep. Perhaps the bulb is burned out, but where should the light be located? Owners manual doesn't even reference it once.
When I initially turn on the ignition it should come on, right? Or am I just crazy. I know it should have a couple of codes, but nobody seems to know how to get at them. |

Re: Check engine light on 89 cherokee
That's because you, in fact, don't have one. The Renix system does not store codes. There is a diagnostic connector in the engine bay but that's to read real time data, not stored data. You need a special scanner. Or you can troubleshoot the entire system using a pair of Volt/Ohm meters.
Search some more on Renix Sensor Diagnostics and you'll find lot's of worthwhile reading.

Re: Check engine light on 89 cherokee
Thanks for the info, Saudade. I have been going crazy trying to figure out how to get some codes out of her. I will do some more research on the Renix Diagnostic System. If you have any links or anymore info that may help, that would be greatly appreciated.
