Bringing back the color to your molding using Peanut Butter!

I haven't tried this on my civic yet since it has been cold out lately, but a month ago, a guy told me to use peanut butter to bring back the faded fender flares on my wrangler. And it worked!! It brought back the faded gray color to a shiny black. I thought he was crazy but I figured what have I got to lose.

I am going to give it a shot on my civic as soon as it gets warmer out and stops raining. My side molding and bumpers are all black...well gray and faded...since I have the std. I want to try to bring them back to black.

Has anyone else ever tried this on their body molding?

I never heard of that one before, IMO repainting is the easiest & longest lasting.

Mother's Wax has "Back to Black", it works great and doesn't smell like peanut butter, but it probably more expensive.

I think the reason the peanut butter works is because of the vegetable oil in it.

Does it still smell like peanut butter? That would make me hungry all the time...

Re: Bringing back the color to your molding using Peanut Butter!

yeah, peanut oil is often used for deep frying, as it has a high smoke point

so if you know anyone who deep fried their turkey on thanksgiving, ask if they've got any leftover oil

Re: Bringing back the color to your molding using Peanut Butter!

peanut butter is also great for getting chewing gum out of hair... same principal maybe? The PB breaks down the gum so maybe it breaks down the oxidants in the vinyl????
