This type of thing comes up every year.... ever since they stopped production on the CRX. The design always changes, of course.

If they built a new CRX, and kept it true the idea of the old CRX (small, agile, quick, lightweight, affordable two-seat fastback), I'd be there in a minute. I'd sell and borrow whatever I could to own one.

If they do come out with a new CRX, it's looks are going to be based off the current Civic line, just like the old CRXs were. Honeslty I don't think that picture is all that bad looking. Hood needs to be a little longer. And it looks like it has 15" rims in the front and 12" in the rear (artist needs to work on perspective a bit more), but overall it's not that bad.

Actually the pic is pretty good, keeping in mind it's an artist rendition. A current gen CRX would probably have a front similar to the Civic Si, a hatch shaped similar to the Volkswagen Corrado (a little more modern looking that the 2nd gen CRX hatch, but still in the same basic fastback shape). For taillights... who knows... maybe RSX style.

I don't think they'll ever bring back the CRX. If they do, however, it wont look like the old CRXs. It'll have the same basic shape, but a new car has to look like a new car.

Re: new CRX?

Here's a version of the CRX that I photoshopped from the new Si hatch:

Thumbs down

First pic looks like a cross between a neon and a focus. Looks horrible IMO

Actually, yeah. If Dodge ever made a Neon hatchback, it would probably look like that.

I don't think it looks one bit like a Focus. I think people just got way too used to using that term.

Lightbulb What if?????????

Actaully, if Honda was to build the CRX right now, i'd honestly willing to bet they WOULD NOT build it off the civic platform, however I believe it would use civic parts. Here i'll explain.

A few years ago maybe 2-3, honda while developing the new global compact platform the 7th gen civic's, new CRV's, and the RSX's are based off of. They also made a even smaller global platform for mini cars (like those goofy 3 cyc and 4 cyc cars they have in japan and the same cars that look like rolling boxes in gran turismo). This mini platform has some usual features like a midship mounted gas tank on some of the models honda has used it on (aka you sit on it basicly). However this mini platform has proven more versitle that honda orgianally though. Right now its rumored that a design study is goin on to move the gas tank to the rear along with a few other things, like rather than using the platform to build refridgorator looking people haulers....why can't they make a niffty two door coupe outta one? If honda gets it right, they can just maybe use the new Si's K20 motor and brake system, maybe some other items and basicly combine those with this mini chassis and make a CRX from almost nothing really.

I think this is the reason why CRX rumors have been more on the fly in recent years...cuz honda IS THINKING ABOUT IT, but they won't tell us now will they? hehe. I think a twisted version of this mini platform is already running around on US shores...little old thing called the insight. However even if you swaped a motor into it the insight would never become a performace coupe, the suspenion has a solid rear beam axel and the rear wheels are closer together than the front wheels which blows for handling. But like i said i think honda can do it...god at this rate I think we better hope they can do it.

one more thing...anyone notice that car in the first pic DOES sorta resemble a insight???

I just don't see any of my car in there. There's no raised moldings, there's no round headlights with seperate turn signals, no marker in the front bumper, etc. The shape looks all turn of the milennium honda to me. Like i can see some RSX looking lines in there, and some insight too.

I'd STILL hit it! :flash:

eh, your probably right. But neon was the 1st thing that came to mind when I seen that first one (white).

The 2nd one however, looks hot. Somebody slam it.
