Thumbs up bring back the probe

the probe was basically an rx7 with ford badges and a pushrod engine. i say that ford bring back the probe....make it look like the rx8.....have the 3.0L duratec (220hp) stock.......and have a turbocharged 3.0L for a GT version. i think it would be a good idea.

The new Mercury Cougar really is the next generation of Probe, Ford just did a little nameplate swapping. The old Probes were front-drive pocket rockets modelled after Japanese sport compacts. The old Merc Cougars were big rear-drive American Luxo-cruisers marketed to old people. The new cougar breaks from the cougar line and attaches to where the Probe left off. I think Ford just wanted to drop the Probe namesake due to its limited success.
And I think the Cougar has the 2.5L duratec V6 anyways... So, there's your car. But then again, its a POS.

I always thought the Puma was more the size of a Mazda MX3.

Re: bring back the probe

teh zx2 was more the replacement of the probe then teh couger, the zx2 has some apperance effects form teh probe and it was the new 2door small performace vehicle, its was only aobut .1-.2 behind a probe GT with equal drivers in the 1/4

the Puma is like a ZX2 and a MX3 Mated, and the couger was mostly just to get people attention cuz they had almost killed teh car with th elast gen and teh new ones went as sporty as tehy looked and had terrible tranny problems. im sorry but you dont give a car that weights about the same as a stang a 125hp motor and a 200hp option when the 200 barely makes it quick

the probe was a mx6 like previously said, but a 180hp n/a version and a 240hp turbo option would be cool

The Probe and Mazda MX-3 are basically identical when you get down to the nitty gritty. Both featured either a 4 or 6 cylinder engine (both 6 were 1.8L I believe). I previously owned the V6 model MX-3, and currently own a 93 4 cylinder Probe.
