J-spec Silvia Calipers?? Where can I aquire them?
I was wondering if the calipers that are on the Silvia S14 in Japan are different than the calipers on the U.S. Spec 240sx S14. I believe that they are cause a friend of mine had a front clip from an JDM s13 and they were 2-piston calipers as opposed to the single piston calipers in the U.S. Also where would I acquire these calipers.

Re: J-spec Silvia Calipers?? Where can I aquire them?
i believe the S14 K's use the 4 piston caliper and 11inch disc, and maybe 30mm thick, which is the identical unit as the 300zx brakes.
Seriously I wouldn't waste my time on those. Do a 300zx brake swap, or Q45, or even 90s Maxima caliper/with 98 Altima's rotors... they all provide most clamping force, brake torque and swept area than the stock unit. |

i was going to mention the 300zx swap as well...
that's a pretty common swap... i'm pretty sure that sport compact car did that on their flat black car, and they've got a write up on it... their car is an s13... but they swapped to the s14 stuff... and went 300zx http://sportcompactcarweb.com/projec...cc_projsilvia/ |

Ok let me ask this then. If I was to get the true silvia S14 calipers would it be a bolt on procedure or would any mods/fabrication be necessary. I would really love to go with the Brembo Gran turismo system or the Endless 4-pot setup but I dont have 3 grand sitting around waiting to be spent on brakes.

Bolt on because they are the the SAME shit as the Z32 calipers

Re: J-spec Silvia Calipers?? Where can I aquire them?
yea, it will bolt right up, the only thing u have to worry about is will it clear your wheels or not.
But 300zx brakes is more than suffient in my opinion. Even in autox and track day uses, I doubt you will able to get them fade. Those huge brakes kit are just overkill. Sometime I even think 300zx brakes is overkill for our 2700ish lb car. the z brake and the Q45 brake can give you plenty of clamping force and fade resistant that you need. For everyday use and seldom autoX, even stock brakes will do it. All u need is some good brake pad(Axxis Metal master), some good brake fluid(Motul), and some good stainless line(Goodridge or SPL parts). IMO, I will pay more attnetion to the tires too, shaggy tires won't do u any good but locks up if it can't hold up much of braking force, beside tires is the one that slowing u down in physics point of view. just a thought, hope that will help. |
