Nissan Skyline coming to U.S.!!

According to the Jan. issue of automobile magazine, "Nissan chief Carlos Ghosn confirmed during the Tokyo Motor Show that the next Skyline GT-R supercoupe will come here. Good news: It will be semiaffordable and have 400 horsepower.". Debut 2007.

This was on the motex web site:
It has almost been decided that the Nissan Skyline GT-R R35 will use the R390's 3.5 liter V8 Twin Turbo. Even better news is that now, almost for sure, the GT-R R35 will be imported to the US.

Re: Nissan Skyline coming to U.S.!!

Ive read many different things on this mystery Skyline. I have heard that they are dropping in the VQ35DET, basically they are conforming to Renaults ideal of what a Japanese sports car should be, which is a light weight aluminum block engine. Similar to the JGTC racers (VQ30DE... what were they thinking?) I've heard that even the VK engine may go in this beast, I've heard that AWD may be compromised, I've heard that its not supposed to be all that great. Personally, I think (my opinion) that if its not RB powered, is it truely a "Skyline"? I know that TOP SECRET has dropped in the VQ30DETT (Y33 Gloria) in order to go for the lightweight, ok power mindset. But I think it would be a crime to get rid of the great Racing Bred engine. I am aware that there are better engines out there, but what do you think of when you here the words "SKYLINE" (even if one is speaking of a cluster of tall buildings, hehe) I think of the great RB engine, and that beautfully designed car which can only be named, Skyline. Basically what im saying is that I think Nissan should stick with the Racing Bred engine, it wouldnt hurt to bump her up to a 3.0, haha, but im sure you all get what im saying... Wow thoughts of 17 year olds are pretty unorganized eh? Haha, peace foo's

Hiroshi Tamura, the chief product planner behind the next Skyline was responsible for the R34 GT-R as well. Keep that in mind. Renault has nothing to do with the GT-R. They are busy trying to do their own thing. Nissan is back on their feet, and actually selling better than Renault.

The JGTC R34 GT-Rs did even better with the VQ30DET than with the RB26DETT. Not only were the cars lighter, but they had better weight distribution, better handling, and more torque.
Toyota was sufficiently scared by the new VQ powerplants to the point that they decided to replace the 3S-GTEs in their Supras with the 1UZ-FE V8.
It was also quite ironic that in 2003, the final season for the GT500 class GT-Rs before being replaced by the Fairlady Z, the VQ-powered GT-Rs took the manufacturers championship and the driver's championship.

The next GT-R will have ATTESA-ETS, if not ATTESA-Pro, like the R34 GT-R. IMHO, the VK would not be a bad idea, but it is supposed to be left out for the sake of weight distribution.

Skylines have been around for well over 40 years, and the generations with the RB amount to only one quarter of that heritage. Some Skylines even used the FJ and CA 4-bangers.

Then Nissan should have been locked away in prison for the past year and a half. The RB was discontinued in the summer of 2002.

Personally, I think of a family of sporty sedans and coupes when I hear "Skyline." When I hear "GT-R" on the other hand, I think of the top performance model of the Skyline.

Too late, on both counts. The RB30 was discontinued, too.

I'll drink to that.

Re: Nissan Skyline coming to U.S.!!

hmm...
so you guys are jumping on the "it's gonna have a v8" bandwagon?
how many threads are there about this?
it was also strongly rumored that it'd have a 400hp tt v6. just like the jgtc cars.

you guys can't keep your heads wrapped around an idea long enough for it to even gel.

i though these threads were supposed to get locked, b/c they're pointless.

Re: Nissan Skyline coming to U.S.!!

How many threads? Too many to bloody count.

Shouldn't be called a Skyline? Well it's not in any case; it's apparently just going to be the Nissan GTR.

More "thread-spray" needed... Please check (and by all means add to if you have more info) the sticky threads at the top of this forum about this.
